There will be a new Rebekah in town when The CW's The Originals returns in January and recently actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers sat down to talk about landing the coveted gig.

"It's a very exciting role," declared the 22-year-old in an interview with In Style on Wednesday. "I'll be on for quite a few episodes."

During the midseason finale, Rebekah (Claire Holt) sacrificed her immortality so that Klaus (Joseph Morgan) could take down their mother, Esther (Sonja Sohn). She was supposed to jump into the body of a woman Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) had found, but after being betrayed by their brother Kol (Daniel Sharman), Rebekah awoke in the body of a witch who'd been trapped in New Orleans house by Klaus for decades.

So who is Richardson-Sellers? And what does she think about playing a character originated by Holt?

Born in England and a graduate of Oxford, the actress entered Hollywood with some short film and theatre credits before landing a major role in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII.

As for stepping into a pre-existing character on The Originals, Richardson-Sellers is excited at the unique opportunity. Scoring a leading role in Star Wars with little experience is no small feat, and neither is stepping into a CW role which had already garnered a lot of attention through another actress.

"She's [Rebekah] a very sassy, cool character," noted Richardson-Sellers. "I want to explore my boundaries as an actress."

With a growing resume of "supernatural" roles, the actress insisted that it's all about the character. "Even though I'm doing all these supernatural things, it's that character's everyday life," she explained. "You're basically skipping into someone else's reality for a while."

The Originals returns on The CW to continue with its second season on Monday, Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
