'Serial' Concludes Its First Season, Fans React On Twitter

On Thursday, NPR's All Things Considered co-host Audie Cornish chatted with Sarah Koenig about Adnan Syed (Hae Min Lee's ex-boyfriend who is currently serving time for Lee's murder) and more.

Koenig told Cornish that she doesn't have any regrets about being open about her own reactions to those involved in the case.

"I'm definitely susceptible to that, I mean, there's no question. I like Adnan. I mean, I do. Like, he's a likable person. And, you know, I know him. I know him a bit," she revealed.

She claimed any journalist who spends a lot of time on a story would develop feelings toward it. Personal reactions will happen.

"I think that's fake," she stated when talking about having no personal reactions.

"I think that if journalists, reporters who spend a lot of time on a story, are honest with themselves, we all have feelings about our subjects - I mean, unless you're a robot," Koenig shared.

She said it's best to "be aware of how you're feeling and have checks on it."

The murder of Lee is still pretty unclear, but Koenig did find Syed's conviction to be a problem based on the evidence offered in court against him.

"I think something went wrong with this case," Koenig told Cornish.

She added, "Obviously, I wish I knew. I wish I knew exactly what happened," which is probably how every listener of her podcast feels too.
