A 23-year-old former volleyball player has been shot to death in broad daylight. Megan Boken was shot in the neck and chest while she was sitting in her white Volkswagen on August 18. The incident happened in St Louis' Central West End neighborhood at 2:15 p.m., according to CBS.

Witness reports differ, as some say that the gunman was in the car, before getting out to shoot her, while others say he was not in the car. The male gunman reportedly ran off after the fatal shooting. He is said to be an African-American male in his mid-twenties, between 5'8" and 5'10". He has not been captured yet.

The former St. Louis University student was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Boken was scheduled to play a reunion game with former players just two hours before she was killed.

The neighborhood where she was shot is said to be a low-crime area. St. Louis spokesman David Marzullo told Huffington Post that the murder may be an attempted robbery. "We're investigating it as an attempted robbery," he said. "I know it's somewhat of a general description, but we are asking for the public's help on this." He asked anyone with any information to contact CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-8477.
