Rosie O'Donnell Heart Attack; 'I'm Lucky to be Here'
Comedian Rosie O'Donnell suffered a heart attack last week and is now at home recovering, stating that she is "lucky to be here."
Her coronary artery was blocked 99 percent, according to MSN.
The star, 50, spoke about the experience on her blog on Aug. 20, stating that she experienced nausea, hot flashes, chest aches and other symptoms that made her worry after she helped a woman get out of her car in Nyack, N.Y. According to the site, O'Donnell did a Google search for "women's heart attack symptoms" and after taking aspirin, she went to a cardiologist.
"The dr did an EKG and sent me to the hospital/where a stent was put in," she wrote. "They call this type of heart attack/ the Widow maker...Know the symptoms ladies/listen to the voice inside/the one we all so easily ignore."
The star also noted "I am happy to be alive." In a statement released on Monday to PEOPLE, her representative Cindi Berger said, "[Rosie] is now home and resting comfortably. She is very, very lucky/'
O'Donnell had her own talk show, "The Rose Show," on Oprah Winfrey's television network. The show was unfortunately cancelled in March. Earlier this month, O'Donnell revealed also on her blog that her fiancé Michelle Rounds was suffering from desmoid tumors, a rare disease, according to the Huffington Post.
