Avril Lavigne and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger are engaged and ready to tie the knot! This comes as a huge surprise due to the fact that not many even knew they were dating.

According to People Magazine, the couple began dating while working on Lavigne's new album. The close friendship that was birthed blossomed into a private relationship between the two stellar musicians.

This will be Lavigne's second marriage and Kroeger's first. The pop diva was formerly married to Sum 41's Deryck Whibley for three years until their highly publicized divorce in 2009. Lavigne was later linked to reality star Brody Jenner before ending their relationship towards the beginning of the year. Despite the singer's history of love, Kroeger, along with his bandmates, seem at ease to move forward.

Tweeting "Congratulations Avril Lavigne and Chad!" the band showed their support for their fellow band mate, which Kroeger retweeted.

Their union isn't the only thing Lavigne is looking forward to. Going for more of a pop sound with her upcoming fifth studio album, it is expected to be released by the end of the year.
