British boy band singer Zayn Malik reactivated his Twitter account on Aug. 23 and later posted a statement denying that he allegedly cheated on his girlfriend Perrie Edwards.

"I am back!" he tweeted, only two days after stating that he would leave Twitter for good. He apologized for making the sudden departure, stating, "I dont want to let my fans down...I really do love all you guys."

@youare1Dfans tweeted '@zaynmalik we're so glad that you're back :)) don't do that again okay :)) we missed you so much!!"

The Daily Mail reported that the 19-year-old One Direction member explained the following to friends on the social messenger Kik:

"Don't worry about me, im fine. I just deleted my account because of all the hate i was getting just by tweeting something simple. And all the rumours of me smoking weed and cheating. I dont need to read any of that negativity."

Malik originally decided to leave the social media site after he stated that he was fed up with the number of negative messages he was receiving.

"'The reason i don't tweet as much as i use to, is because I'm sick of all the useless opinions and hate that i get daily goodbye twitter :)," he posted on Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Many users were posting hurtful comments in light of accusations that Malik was cheating on Edwards, his girlfriend and X Factor winner.

Daily Mail also reported that a source close to Zayn said, "They couldn't be happier, it's ridiculous that anyone thinks otherwise. When they're together it's like excited teenagers getting together for the first time."
