Hayley wants to unite her people on The Originals, but her feelings for Elijah might just be too strong to ignore.

Paul Wesley Might Just Be Coming To 'The Originals' 

Their mid-season finale hookup thrilled fans last month, and while Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) both agreed that she should marry Jackson (Nathan Parsons) for the good of the werewolves, their new intimacy might complicate things.

Will Hayley go through with her marriage? Will she choose her people over the one man she cares for most? Now that Esther has been taken down the threat to Hayley's pack isn't as immediate. This could buy her some more time, though trouble is still brewing between the vampires and the werewolves and the hybrid will kick off the show's returning by trying to resolve this conflict. Perhaps a union between Hayley, a wolf, and Elijah, a vampire, could even be beneficial to this cause.

'Betrayal & Retribution' Brewing On 'The Originals' 

An incredibly tense photo from the upcoming episode 10 was released by TVLine on Tuesday, which shows Elijah and Hayley making eyes as one another as they cross paths in the kitchen. The way they look at one another possessing a blend of seriousness and longing that has made their forbidden love so popular on the series.

Now that they've finally gotten together, it might be too difficult for them to part ways.

The Originals returns on The CW for the remainder of its second season on Monday, Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
