While Dornan's Once Upon a Time character Sheriff Graham died and was last seen in season 2, show creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis had mentioned that they hoped to get him back last year.

However, Dornan admitted to Access Hollywood recently that much as he would like to come back, it would essentially be impossible.

"You know, I love those guys, Adam and Eddy. They're like family to me and I was actually filming something on the same lot as them, just before Christmas," Dornan told Access Hollywood. "But yeah, I don't know. He's kind of dead."

Kitsis previously told Access Hollywood that scheduling would be impossible, much as they would want him back.

"Last year, when he did 'Welcome to Storybrooke' for us, it was fantastic to have him come back," Kitsis said. "He's a friend of ours, he's a friend of the show and unfortunately, this year, he goes right from [Fifty Shades of Grey] to The Fall, so there was no - because they were shooting [Fifty Shades] in Vancouver, we were hoping to..."

Dornan will next be seen on season 2 of The Fall, which comes out on Friday, Jan. 16 on Netflix. Meanwhile, Fifty Shades of Grey will be released in theaters on Feb. 14.

Once Upon a Time returns on Sunday, March 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
