The Mentalist's Patrick Jane is holding onto something from his past, and his seeming unwillingness to let go may affect his future with Lisbon.

Despite entering a new romantic relationship with his long time partner, the faux psychic still wears a wedding ring from his first marriage. With only a handful of episode left before the series' conclusion, Jane (Simon Baker) and Lisbon (Robin Tunney) will have to broach the subject before their story ends for good.

"The ring is obviously hugely important to Jane," executive producer Tom Szentgyorgyi explained to TV Line. "It will be addressed, but we can't give away how."

Perhaps Jane will replace his old band with a new one from Lisbon? Many fans are hoping the Jisbon relationship will lead to marriage, but The Mentalist writers are unwilling to say whether or not those nuptials will come to pass.

"[Fans are] getting ahead of things," said series creator Bruno Heller, according to Entertainment Weekly. "But a wedding is always something to be wished for. It's certainly a question that arises at different times for both Jane and Lisbon-if they love each other, and they're living together, then why don't we get married? I don't want to give away too much. The season is very much about how do these two people become a couple and work as a couple and still survive as a couple."
