Chris Brown debuted a funky blue new hairdo on Instagram on Thursday, Aug. 30

The 23-year-old posted a self-portrait of his Mohawk haircut with a blonde base and a blue strip.

After excessive criticism, both positive and negative, the singer removed the image from his Instagram account.

Brown's fans also asked if he will be attending the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 6 but his publicist denied the rumor.

"[Chris Brown] will not be at VMAs in any capacity," Brown's rep reportedly told Gossip Cop.com on Aug. 28.

Several reports alleged that the show's producers were hoping that Brown would attend the awards ceremony with Drake and his former girlfriend. Rihanna has confirmed her appearance for the live show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

"They are hoping a fight breaks out. Ratings galore!" a source told Us Weekly Magazine. "Notice Drake and Chris are both up for Best Male Video."

A source close to Brown told Hollywood Life, "Why wouldn't he? It would be the first time in a long...time that he would be on stage with his boo.''

A second source from Rihanna's camp told the website that the "Birthday Cake" singer would be up for a reunion on stage with her ex-boyfriend.

"That's obvious. Hell yeah, she would. [There isn't anything] she wouldn't do for that [him]. She'd do just about anything for him.''

In June, Brown, 23, and Drake, 26, attended WIP nightclub in New York City. Members from their entourages engaged in a scuffle that included bottle throwing that left several club attendees, including NBA players Tony Parker, seriously injured. The club and the injured patrons have since filed lawsuits surrounding the incident.

The alleged rival was rumored to stem from a beef that Brown has with Drake over Rihanna. The Barbados native appears in Drake's music video for the hit song "Take Care" which has been nominated for a VMA award.
