Despite his own announcement to the contrary, Dancing With the Stars head judge Len Goodman is probably coming back for future seasons.

'Dancing With the Stars' Derek Hough & Len Goodman Could Still Return, Producers 'Upping The Ante'

While Goodman had revealed in December that he was intending to leave Dancing With the Stars after season 20 this spring, one of the show's executive producers recently said that this may not be the case. Executive producer Rob Wade explained why Goodman likely said this and how he could return in future seasons.

"Len finished last season, did an interview afterwards and I think genuinely he's found it tough. That's why we only had him on for half the season last season. The travel, he's getting on a bit, and his mother, who's 97, is quite sick and needs help. He felt bad about being away," Wade noted to E! News. "He was tired and he felt bad about being away, he was exhausted...I had a lot of conversations before the last season about it...When he had the interview, he was like, 'Season 20 is a good place to end,' because I think what Len felt was, since he's such a good guy, he felt like if he went away for a season, we wouldn't [want] him back."

However, there is still a chance that he could return to judge season 21 in a limited capacity, while season 22 in 2016 could see the judge returning full-time.

"The truth is there is still a chance that Len will be around for 21, either as a part of, a small part, a big part or a whole part of the season," Wade revealed. "I don't know how we'd use him, but he's very open to it. I spoke to Len two days ago. And then for Season 22, the spring, he's very up for coming back. And if we can come to an agreement, he absolutely wants to come back. "

Goodman has been with Dancing With the Stars since the beginning of the series, along with fellow judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli. Julianne Hough joined as a fourth permanent judge ahead of season 19. She will be returning alongside the others for season 20.

Wade also confirmed that new co-host Erin Andrews would be returning along with Tom Bergeron.

While the hosts and judges will all be returning, the same cannot be said for the pro dancers. Fan favorite Derek Hough is slated to sit out of season 20 in order to star in New York Spring Spectacular while Cheryl Burke has decided to move on from the show to explore other career opportunities. The other noteworthy pros are expected to return.

Dancing With the Stars is slated to premiere its 20th season on Monday, March 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
