Longtime judge Len Goodman is quitting ABC's Dancing With the Stars - after season 20 that is.

Goodman gave an interview with Digital Spy and other publications about how he will retire from Dancing With the Stars after the spring edition, while continuing to judge Britain's version of the show, Strictly Come Dancing.

"Next year, I'm not going to do the flying backwards and forwards - I'm not going to do the American show... I've got to have a bit of time off," Goodman revealed. "I've got my wife, I've got my son, my mother is still alive and she's in hospital - I've had virtually no time to go and visit her."

The 70-year-old judge said that he needed time off in order to live "a normal life," and he ultimately chose the dance competition in his own country over America.

"It was either Strictly went or the American one went or the tour went... I'm doing the spring one when I go out there... and that's going to be my last one," he confirmed.

Dancing With the Stars is heading into its 20th season this spring, and Goodman thinks that this is a good landmark to end with; the show will have been on for 10 years at that point.

Goodman is pretty confident that fellow judge Bruno Tonioli will continue to judge both Dancing With the Stars and Strictly Come Dancing, though he joked that it's because "he's ten years younger than me."

As for Goodman's replacement after season 20 it remains to be seen, though it's possible that they might just go back to a three-judge format with Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba and Julianne Hough.

Dancing With the Stars returns for season 20 in March on ABC.
