The buzz surrounding a recent development in the pre-production phase of Transformers 5, suggests that the movie will be inspired by the original in the franchise.

Latest Updates About Age of Extinction Sequel

In light of a recent report that revealed that Peter Cullen, the voice of Optimus Prime, has requested the producers of Transformers to go back to the drift of the series before Age of Extinction. This has set off a rumor about the next instalment rewinding, and straying from the plot of Age of Extinction. Only time will tell if the producers will actually take action and consider Cullen's advice.

Cullen had expressed concerns about the severity of the last movie, and has requested the producers to tone it down some in the fifth instalment.

When Will Filming For The Age of Extinction Sequel Begin?

Cullen spoke about this at the Sac Anime 2015 conference, stating that he was not a big fan of the detour the film took with Age of Extinction. He hopes that the next chapter hearkens back to the orginal and doesn't stray like the fourth film.

The voice actor's concerns can also be corroborated by the fact that Age of Extinction was a massive failure with the critics. The movie is also leading this year's Razzie nominations, including the top honor for worst film of 2014.

While the movie has totally tanked with critics, it has been surprisingly successful commercially.

Recently, Transformers 4: Age of Extinction just added another feather to its hat, as it was revealed as topping the list of movies that were the highest grossing in the international market.

The movie has not just ruled at the box office at home, but now internationally, new reports reveal. The movie registered 845.3 million dollars internationally. But while the movie has been the undisputed hit in the commercial sense, it was heavily panned by critics.

The film has been nominated in the category of the worst film of the year. It is no secret that the movie was a major disappointment with the critics and a lot of fans even though it reigned on the box office.

The Guardian reported that the movie had beat all the major releases of the year cashing in a cool $1.087 billion. The report added that a lot of the money could be attributed to the fact that the Chinese market also had a big roled to play in making the movie a commercial hit. Age of Extinction is followed by Guardians of the Galaxy which made $772.3 million at the box office, and the Angelina Jolie starrer Maleficent ranks third.

The critics were quite unimpressed by Age of Extinction, and weren't very polite about it either. Even some of the fans were deeply disappointed by Bay's shtick.
