The numbers of people running around the fictional town of Port Charles on General Hospital will be getting even bigger as a familiar soap face prepares to join the cast.

Rebecca Budig, who previously portrayed Greenlee Smythe on All My Children, is officially joining the cast of GH, something head writers Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati announced via Twitter on Feb. 10.

The writers played the announcement like a game, teasing fans about a casting announcement and discussing their plans for a character they announced would be 'killer'-before formally revealing that the new character would be portrayed by Budig.

"So @valentinifrank, the #GH fans told me you promised them some kind of casting announcement?" Carlivati tweeted.

"Yeah, it's fan February so I thought it'd be fun to share with fans," Valentini responded.

"Okay, is this for that new character we've been working on?" Carlivati asked.

"Yes I have a great idea!" Valentini wrote.

"You didn't forget that it's a woman right?" Carlivati asked.

"No sir, I did not forget! I've got someone really terrific in mind," Valentini said.

"Okay, but this character is a real spitifire. Do you think she can handle it?" Carlivati continued.

"Oh, My friend, she's up to the challenge," Valentini said.

"Okay, we better tell the fans before they kill us," Carlivati commented.

"You're right. Oh shoot I forgot to ask her," Valentini teased.

"Well, ask her now, you idiot! Is she on twitter?" Carlivati said.

"Who isn't?" Valentini asked.

"Billy Miller. But that's another story. JUST ASK HER NOW!" Carlivati said.

"Okay Okay. Hey @RebeccaBudig wanna join the cast of GH in a new Killer Role?" Valentini tweeted.

Budig then joined the conversation with the two writers, adding to the joke and asking if a fellow cast member could do her hair.

"What???!!! Only if Billy Miller will do my hair. Like Elizabeth Taylor's Wait. He's not on twitter. YES!" she wrote.

"Excellent! Frank, can you call Billy and ask him about the hair thing?" Carlivati then tweeted.

Not much else has been revealed about Budig's role, and it is unclear when fans will see her on screen.
