The Originals has seen plenty of resurrection this season, but will a recently fallen Mikaelson rise again?

Elijah & Hayley Trying To Stop Klaus On 'The Originals'?

In a shocking twist during Monday night's episode, Kol (Daniel Sharman) met a brutal and emotional end on The CW drama after failing to reverse a curse set upon him by his brother Finn (Yusuf Gatewood). In Kol's final moments Rebekah (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) swore she would try to bring him back, but will she succeed?

"In the wake of this departure, Rebekah and Davina are both going to have an opinion about Kol's death," explained executive producer Michael Narducci during an interview with E! on Monday. "In the past, we've seen witches die and come back…is there a possibility that we haven't seen the last of Kol Mikaelson? That's a pretty interesting question."

Does Freya Want To Sacrifice Hope On 'The Originals'?

Narducci insisted that Kol will continue to appear through flashbacks, though it's uncertain whether or not Daniel Sharman will ever reprise the role.

"I can't speak highly enough of Daniel's presence on set and his preparation and hard work, particularly for this episode," noted Narducci. "He's just an incredible actor…we're sad to see him go."

Kol's death will have a major impact on his family, as well as Davina (Danielle Campbell). Narducci teased that the young witch will be facing some difficult decisions ahead. Does she work to bring back Kol? Or will she be forced to turn her attention on greater threats in New Orleans?

As for Rebekah, she might ultimately have to decide whether she wants to remain a witch and try to help Kol, or give up and return to her immortal body (as played by Claire Holt).

The Originals will return on The CW for the remainder of its second season Monday, March 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
