The actor, known for playing Deputy "Ferg" Ferguson on the popular crime drama, is excited about Longmire's new life on Netflix and how fans have responded to his character over the last three seasons.

"Everybody roots for him," explained the actor during his interview with Eden Prairie News on Thursday.

"The Ferg is going to continue to be faced with new challenges," added Bartley in regards to the show's fourth season. "[He will] become a more confident, trustworthy cop."

Production for the show's new season begins in New Mexico sometime during March, though the actor admitted that he doesn't know too much about the new episodes just yet. He knows fans want to see The Ferg get a girlfriend, but is unsure as to whether or not the writers will comply with that request just yet.

So how has Longmire become such a popular series? What drives its devoted fan base?

"The show moves slower than other shows and it doesn't apologize for it," explained Bartley. "I think that's why a lot of people like the show."

The crime drama's cast has often reffered to one another as "family", claiming them to have developed a special bond over the last few years.

Longmire will likely return on Netflix for a fourth season during the later half of 2015.
