The latest posters from Showtime's Penny Dreadful showed some fresh carnage this week.

A Look Inside The Home Of Penny Dreadful's New Villain 

On Monday Coming Soon released four brand new posters featuring Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) and Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett) in all their tormented glory.

The first of the ads shows a lone Vanessa Ives walking down a bloody path cast across stark white snow. The caption "no rest for the wicked" lies just above her head, suggesting that Vanessa might just decide to go to the dark side after all in the upcoming episodes.

New Posters For 'Penny Dreadful' Feature Frankenstein & Caliban 

The second poster featured Ethan with his eyes closed, head raised to the sky almost as if in prayer with long strands of hair lying feathery across his face. So is he relieved? Or has he accepted a miserable fate?

The third poster is a portrait of Ethan with almost black eyes as he grits his teeth and stares out at the viewer, while the forth includes Vanessa seeming not at all herself. It's possible she has given in yet again to demonic possession, or maybe she is just exhausted from the uphill battle she's been fighting.

It's no wonder ads for Ethan and Vanessa were featured together. During the show's first season the pair developed a unique and committed friendship, standing by one another even when others feared to. This season their bond will only grow stronger, testing their wills.

Penny Dreadful will return on Showtime for a second season on Sunday, May 3 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
