Week 3 of the NFL season featured several upsets, as many top teams came up short. Alex Smith and the San Francisco 49ers, who were atop most of the power rankings, were defeated by the Minnesota Vikings. To add insult to injury, Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos also dipped below the .500 mark by losing to the Houston Texans and dropping to 1-2. However, both teams are expected to rebound in what looks to be an exciting Week 4 of NFL action.

While the 49ers certainly have some long-term issues that need to be addressed due to their lack of performance, they will look to reignite their offense as they face off against the inconsistent New York Jets. New York's defense hasn't done very well against rushing teams, as they are ranked 28th in the league. On the other hand, the 49ers strong defense will be a challenge for Mark Sanchez and the Jets, which will serve to put undue pressure on the QB.

Although Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos are not exceeding expectations at the moment, their first three matchups have come against three tough teams: the Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans. Denver will be taking on the Oakland Raiders in Week 4, who just came off a motivational win against Pittsburgh.

With the Raiders lagging defense in question, Manning and the Broncos should put up big passing numbers. Oakland has also have been ridden with a slew of injuries at the wide receiver position, which will further put them at a disadvantage.
