Det. Kevin Ryan (Seamus Dever) will get the spotlight in a dramatic new episode of ABC's Castle.

ABC has released a new plot synopsis for episode 7.18 of Castle, which is titled At Close Range. The episode involves Ryan trying to protect a congressman when shots are fired at an event.

"Detective Kevin Ryan is on the security detail of a charismatic congressman attending a charity event when shots suddenly ring out," the synopsis reads. "Driven to apprehend the killer, Ryan must revisit the events that led up to the shooting, with the help of Castle [Nathan Fillion] and Beckett [Stana Katic]."

The guest cast for the upcoming episode includes Reiko Aylesworth (24) as Mia Lopez, Ricardo Chavira (Desperate Housewives) as Alex Lopez and many more.

The episode is slated to air on Monday, March 23 in the regular 10 p.m. ET/PT timeslot.

As Enstars previously reported, the next episode of Castle is titled Hong Kong Hustle and is set to air Monday, March 16 after the season premiere of Dancing With the Stars.

The episode guest stars Linda Park (Star Trek: Enterprise) as Inspector Zhang, a Hong Kong detective who is tasked with working with Beckett. The detective has information on the victim in a new murder at a park. However, things get complicated when "as Beckett digs deeper into the case, she realizes neither her Hong Kong colleague nor the victim may be quite who they seem."

Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
