Fans might just get to see a gentler side to Mikael on The Originals this season, or at least at gentle as an unstable, mass-murdering father can be.

A Look At Marcel & Rebekah's 'Tender' Relationship On 'The Originals'

Now that Freya (Riley Voelkel) is back, The CW series is preparing to explore a Mikael (Sebastian Roche) which predates his other children.

"It's interesting because this is the first time we've seen him interact with Freya," explained Maisie Richardson-Sellers (Rebekah) during an interview with Access Hollywood on Monday. "So we're now seeing this new side of him."

Klaus Prepares For Dahlia's Return On 'The Originals'

This doesn't mean the Mikaelson patriarch will be changing his tune overnight though.

"You know, it's never going to be good when Mikael's around," added Richardson-Sellers. "We have a sort of pretty bad track record with that, but maybe having Freya there will enable us to see a new side of him, and we'll see how the others react to their relationship."

Of course, Freya's affection towards Mikael won't help Klaus (Joseph Morgan) to trust her. Mikael has always despised the hybrid and Klaus, in turn, has grown to hate the man who raised him. Since Klaus is still having trouble trusting his long-lost sister, he surely won't approve of her ally after he realizes that Freya has enlisted Mikael to help her.

The Originals will continue on The CW with the remainder of its second season Monday, April 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
