As Regina (Lana Parrilla) goes undercover as a villain with the Queens of Darkness on ABC's Once Upon a Time, it is possible that she becomes tempted to go to the dark side again.

Regina Will Be Thrown a 'Huge Curveball' on 'Once Upon a Time'

Parrilla spoke with Entertainment Weekly this week about everything that's going on with Regina, particularly her current mission as a spy for the heroes. The actress believes that it is still possible that she is swayed to the dark side.

"Will Regina ever go back to being dark is really the question," Parrilla said. "Does she have the potential? Yes. Emma [Jennifer Morrison] has the potential. It's like an alcoholic that's been off the bottle for six months to a year. Maybe she can hold her own with these women. I think she can try her best not to cross over to the dark side again. She's going to be very tempted."

The actress explained that Regina is able to work both sides of the spectrum moving forward, but "she's going to try her hardest not to get too pulled into the darkness."

Parrilla noted that Regina is taking a "big chance," though it is ultimately for the purposes of protecting Emma from being swayed to the dark side herself.

On another note, the actress teased that fans will be introduced to The Author soon, though it is not abundantly clear at first.

"You will get a glimpse of him before knowing his identity as the Author. It's a fun reveal," Parrilla said. "He's very unexpected. You can't guess who the Author is. He's unassuming. You'll see him and meet him first without knowing that he's the Author."

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
