Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) and Dr. Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) are not currently together on Grey's Anatomy, but there might be a tiny shred of hope for them to get back together eventually.

Amelia Rethinks Her Relationship With Owen On 'Grey's Anatomy'

Back in January, showrunner Shonda Rhimes told Entertainment Weekly that these two characters would be focusing on themselves for the remainder of Season 11.

"If you break up with somebody, it's not like you don't love them anymore. They're right there. There's a lot of the pull of who they are together now. Are they friends? What's that mean? Are they still there for one another in times of need?" Rhimes stated.

Cops Get Injured On An Upcoming Episode Of 'Grey's Anatomy'

Now on Thursday, Entertainment Weekly revealed Capshaw's insight on her character's relationship with Callie.

During Thursday's episode, Callie moved forward in moving on from Arizona as she returned her things to her.

"It's baby steps towards being in a relationship that's full of mutual respect, kindness, generosity, love and partners in sharing a child," Capshaw shared.

Capshaw said she thinks "it's been a real natural progression" in Callie and Arizona moving forward.

"We had the episode where Callie and Arizona knew the best thing for both of them was to not be together, and then Herman [Geena Davis] came, so it was a train we were all on that nobody could get off. So, for a lot of episodes, the focus wasn't completely on: are they together or aren't they together? And now that some time has passed, it's not as fresh a wound; it doesn't hurt every time the wind blows on it. It's healing and we're moving on. Things are good," she added.

Will these two ever get back together?

Capshaw isn't totally sure since "they had to go through so much to make that decision to be apart.

"Everyone longs for the beginning, I get that, you want them to go back to the beginning, but you can't do that with anything in life," Capshaw concluded.

Grey's Anatomy airs on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
