Elizabeth Escalona, now dubbed Glued Hands Mom, admitted to beating her 2-year-old daughter and gluing the child's hands together. Now she faces sentencing for child abuse that could range from probation to a life in prison.

ABC reported that Escalona's sentencing hearing will continue on its fourth day, Thursday, Oct. 11, and only a day before did she plead for leniency in court, saying she was no longer a "monster."

Escalona, a 23-year-old Texas resident, pleaded guilty in July to felony charges of first-degree injury to a child. She said on Wednesday, "I will never forgive myself for what I did to my own daughter.

When prosecutors showed her pictures of her daughter's injuries in court, Escalona responded and told the Dallas judge, "Only a monster does that. When that happened, I was [one]... I want everybody to know I'm not a monster. I love my kids."

The news report detailed the child abuse incident according to facts relayed by police. It was said that Escalona lost her temper with her daughter, Jocelyn Cedillo, over potty training issues in September 2011. The mother then began beating and kicking Cedillo before sticking her hands to an apartment wall using Super Glue.

Cedillo was hospitalized following the incident for bleeding in her brain, a fractured rib, bruises and bite marks, and was in a coma for a couple of days. She also had some skin torn off of her hands where doctors found Super Glue residue and paint chips from the wall she was glued to.

Escalona's family members that took the stand in court argued that the mother of five could be a better parent with the help of counseling and treatment, according to NBC. Escalona herself spoke about her own abusive past, stating that her father molested her and that Jocelyn's father was abusive to her. According to Escalona, only a day before she beat Cedillo and glued her hand's to the wall, she had fought with her daughter's father, after which he beat and chocked her.

However, NBC noted that prosecutors are seeking a 45-year prison sentence for Escalona.
