"Grey's Anatomy" Season 9 Spoilers: Arizona/Callie, Meredith/Derek & Jackson/April Relationship News [PROMO VIDEO]
What can we expect from all the love affairs on season nine of "Grey's Anatomy?"
For starters, the show's executive producer, Shonda Rhimes, said that this will be "the season of romance," meaning breakups and makeups are bound to be in order.
A press release for episode four, which airs on Oct. 24, revealed that "things continue to heat up between Jackson and April," however, his mother will be making an appearance at the hospital so that is bound to make things more dramatic between the couple.
In episode three, airing on Oct. 18, the couple are seen in the preview trailer getting very cozy and making out, a lot.
Does Jackson (Jesse Williams) propose to April (Sarah Drew)? Well, something like that.
"He asks her if she wants to get married, not to marry him, but she does respond with a kiss, so maybe wedding bells will be ringing soon?" TV Guide revealed.
After experiencing the loss of her sister, Lexie, in last season's finale, Rhimes said that Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) will be "a very different person" in season nine.
"I would say Meredith is an ultimate survivor. She's been through the shooting, and now she's been through the plane crash," she said.
However, her marriage with Derek (Patrick Dempsey) has a new found strain since McDreamy can no longer operate like his old self, after badly injuring his hand in last season's plane crash.
The press release for episode four also stated the following:
"Aware that Derek might never operate again, Meredith stops talking about the surgeries she's performing."
The secrets cannot be a call for a healthy marriage and a trailer for the episode shows them arguing. We already saw Derek throw a tantrum in front of Callie (Sara Ramirez) in the premiere episode after his hand went numb when he was trying to operate.
Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) and Callie also have a complicated relationship, with many obstacles bound to be in their way. Arizona's state of depression because of her leg amputation makes her turn on Callie and blame her for performing the amputation, after she promised she would not.
While Ramirez has not revealed much about the future of Callie's relationship with, she did say that she hopes fans "will continue on this journey with us, because it's definitely going to be an intense one," according to Hollywood Life.
The press release for episode four also noted that "Arizona's struggle to accept her fate forces Callie and Alex to face their guilt."
Watch the new episode of "Grey's Anatomy," called "Love The One You're With," on Oct. 18.
