After the vice presidential debate ended on Thursday night, Oct. 11, a poll taken by viewers revealed some interesting results about who was believed to be victorious in the Joe Biden/Paul Ryan face-off

A CBS News poll conducted after the debate, surveying uncommitted voters using an online panel, showed that most of its voters felt the debate was a win for current Vice President Biden: 50 percent thought Biden won, 31 percent thought Ryan won, and 19 percent that the debate was a tie.

The poll had a 5 percent point margin of error.

The results are interesting in light of the fact that many believed President Barack Obama did not perform as well in his own debate, against presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Oct. 3.

An NBC informal poll of NBC 5 viewers done after the presidential debate on Oct. 3, showed that the public voted 1,946 to 933 that Gov. Romney prevailed, according to the network.

They also noted that some analysts called President Obama's performance "lackluster and wondered what happened to the key points of his Chicago-based campaign."

Some attributed Romney's success to his personable, charming demeanor, but a column in the National Journal claimed it was Obama's debate to lose, and the reason he did not do better was "the curse of incumbency."

However, a poll conducted by CNN on the night of the vice presidential debate revealed somewhat different results. According to the network's poll, viewers had a hard time picking a clear winner in the debate match-up.

Forty-eight percent of voters who watched the vice presidential debate thought Republican Paul Ryan won the match; 44 percent said that Vice President Joe Biden was victorious. These results make the candidates almost tied, whereas the NBC poll set out Romney as the clear winner.

The CNN/ORC International nationwide poll was conducted right after Thursday night's match-up of the two candidates. It also have a 5 percent margin of error.

Also revealed in the poll: 55 percent said Biden did better than expected, while 51 percent said that the Ryan exceeded their expectations.
