The Montgomery County police released photos of the severe car accident that killed BMX cyclist Kyle Bennett on Sunday, Oct. 14. Bennett was 33.

Photos show Bennett's 2006 Toyota pickup truck completely flipped over and all its glass shattered.

Bennett was not wearing his seatbelt and was traveling at accelerated speed in his truck when it swerved off the road and hit a pipe before hitting a set of iron gates of a private residence and trees, according to Business Week. A gas meter was also broken off as well as a power line to an electric gate at the home. Bennett's truck uprooted several trees before stopping upside down in the private home's front yard, police reported.

He was driving over the speed limit and by the time police took him out of the damaged vehicle he was already pronounced dead. No one else was involved or injured in the accident.

Police suggested that perhaps Bennett was responding to a call from his fiance, who had her vehicle broken into.

The cyclist is survived by his fiancée and daughter.

Bennett was a member of the 2008 Olympic BMX team, a sport that made its Olympic debut at the 2008 Beijing Games. He was a three-time Union Cycliste Internationale champion and a three-time National Cycle League champion. An avid and passionate cyclist, he even showed it off with some body ink: he had a tattoo saying "BMX" on his right upper arm.

This past summer, Bennett made the BMX Hall of Fame for his accomplishments over the span of his career. Autoworldnews.com reported that shortly after Bennett's death was announced, hundreds of people gathered outside the Kyle Bennett Armadillo BMX Park.
