It has been exactly 25 years since "Baby Jessica" was pulled alive from a well in Texas. On October 14, 1987, Jessica McClure, who was only 19 months old at the time, fell into a small well in her aunt's backyard. The story had caused a media frenzy and received national coverage. Rescue workers spent 58 hours to digJessica out form the well 22 feel below ground level.

McClure had to amputate a toe due to gangrene from loss of circulation while she was stuck in the well.

Throughout the rescue attempt, donations worth up to $800,000 was amassed for "Baby Jessica". Her family had put the donation into a trust fund. When Jessica turned 25 years old last year, she was finally able to access the fund and put it towards purchasing her currenthome.

Jessica McClure, who is now 26-years-old, is reportedly married with two children and live less than two miles away from the well she nearly died in.

Her story was later adapted into an ABC TV movie in 1989, "Everybody's Baby: The Rescue of Jessica McClure".

The huge media attention that "Baby Jessica" received, had prompted then-President Ronald Reagan to state that "everybody in America became godmothers and godfathers of Jessica while this was going on.

In 2007, McClure was ranked 22nd on USA Today's list of "25 lives of indelible impact."
