The season finale of "Project Runway" revealed the winner who proved he was a cut above the rest.

Dmitry Sholokhov learned he was the winner on Thursday, Oct. 18 when the show's creator and host Heidi Klum told him, "Dmitry, you are the winner of Project Runway! You have your wings - so go and fly!"

"This is the biggest day of my life," said Dmitry, a former ballroom dancer. "I just won Project Runway and I don't know how the f--k I made it to this point...I'm beyond happy and proud."

"I have no idea how I got here. This is a dream come true," the 33-year-old told the panel of judges including Klum, fashion designer Michael Kors, Marie Claire magazine editor Nina Garcia and guest judge Jennifer Hudson.

"So many of your looks were wearable and felt important," Klum said of Sholokhov's black and white designs.

Sholokhov beat fellow designers Fabio Costa, Melissa Fleis and Christopher Palu after the final four presented their final collection in a Lincoln Center runway show during New York Fashion Week in September.

Klum, Hudson and Kors raved about the New York City-based designer's line shortly after the runway show ended. The panel gushed about the line's "organic architecture," and the geometric-shape inspired details helped made the line stand out.

"I, personally, loved it, loved it, loved it!" said Klum. In comparison to the other designers, Kors felt it was the most wearable of the remaining contestants.

"It's rich, honey. It's everything," said Hudson of Sholokhov's final runway show.

Sholokhov sent his models out with heavy eye makeup and slick ponytails to compliment his well-tailored line of clothes. The pieces that stood out were a bright yellow cocktail dress with bejeweled short sleeves and a fringe halter dress.

Costa finished in second place thanks to his "Cosmic Tribalism" collection..

Sholokhov has won $100,000 from L'Oréal Paris to start his own line, a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine, a 2013 Lexus GS 350, a $50,000 worth of technology from HP and Intel and the opportunity to design and sell an exclusive collection at Lord & Taylor.

Sholokhov's model, Katt Vogel, will also appear in the designer's editorial feature in Marie Claire and will receive $25,000 from L'Oréal Paris EverStyle.
