The Orionid Meteor Shower taking place in October 2012 will continue to put up a spectacular show on Sunday night, with sky gazers across the globe hoping to catch a glimpse of the amazing light show from Halley’s comet’s debris.

The meteor shower can be watched online through live stream Ustream below.

The Orionid meteor shower is peaking slightly earlier this year due to it being a leap year. However, the light show should be as beautiful as ever and for those able to get a good view it should be a wonderful experience.

The meteor shower is more visible when the night sky is darker and it is this weekend where the conditions are better to see the spectacle.

So this year, as the darkest night in October is during the New Moon, which is on Oct. 15, and the brightest night is during the Full Moon of Oct. 29. So the best period to see the shower would be from Oct. 15 to Oct. 21. Astrologers has also advised that the best time to view the Orionid Meteor Shower would be about two hours prior to dawn.

This shower is also one of the most widely watched as it can be seen across the globe. Scientists have advised those wanting to catch a glimpse of the meteor shower to try and get to a location that is as dark as possible at the right time, and hopefully that will allow a good show. Cloud cover should obviously also be avoided.

The Orionid Meteor Shower is named after the constellation Orion. The meteors are debris left over by the famous "Halley's Comet,” which is spread over an area as wide as the distance between the Earth and the Moon.

If you are able to get out to watch the show, enjoy the amazing show, but if you cannot get outside for whatever reason you can watch the meteor shower online through live stream below.
