Princess Madeleine of Sweden has found her love.

The royal family of Sweden will welcome American banker Christopher O'Neill.

The engagement announcement came on Thursday that Princess Madeleine Therese Amelie Josephine will marry the successful 38-year-old financier from New York.

According to the announcement, the two live and met in New York where they were introduced through mutual friends. The 30-year-old princess calls O'Neill her "soulmate" and that they have "a lot of fun together."

Princess Madeleine is fourth in line to the Swedish throne and is the youngest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.

O'Neill, a dual British-American citizen, says he's being treated warmly by the royal family and that he's learning Swedish.

"I felt part of the family right from the very beginning. Madeleine's family is very warm and we have a very good time when we all see each other," said O'Neill in the announcement.

The princess commented about her new love saying: "I appreciate Chris for his warmth and his humor. He has a very big heart and he manages to make everyone in his presence feel good. Christopher is a very thoughtful and generous person."

The princess was previously engaged in 2010 but reports of infidelity on the part of her fiancé caused a breakup.

Details of the recent proposal by O'Neill are being kept a secret but Princess Madeleine said it was "very romantic and intimate."

The New York banker is said to have gone the traditional route by asking the king for her hand in marriage. Princess Madeleine's father consented and "requested the approval by the Swedish Government, in accordance with the procedures set out in the Swedish Constitution," according to the announcement.

The wedding between Princess Madeleine and O'Neill will take place at an unannounced date in summer 2013.
