Earlier this month, the 25-year-old was slapped with a witness intimidation charge.

The New York Post reported that Hernandez attempted to silence Alexander Bradley in the double murder case of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado by shooting him in the face and leaving him for dead in an industrial park near Riviera Beach, Fla.

Prosecutors said the now 25-year-old shot Bradley in the face at the time since he commented on the 2012 double murder. In the double murder case Hernandez is accused of gunning down the two men over a spilled drink. Bradley apparently was the only one to witness the crime.

This charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years.

Hernandez is claiming to be innocent. In court last Thursday the convicted murderer plead not guilty to the charge.

NBC Connecticut reported last Thursday that the next court date surrounding this charge will be on June 4, but Hernandez doesn't have to appear.

The district attorney wants this trial to begin in November, while Hernandez's lawyers are trying to push for it to begin in 2016.

The judge made it clear that he wants the trial to begin this year.
