Survivor: Cambodia - Second Chance is currently in production as 20 former players vie for the title of Sole Survivor and the $1 million prize.

Will 'Old School' Players Struggle In The New Season of 'Survivor'?

The concept for the new season of Survivor is 20 one-time players who did not win the game in their original seasons coming back for a second chance. With players as far back as Borneo and recent as Worlds Apart, anyone could win the game.

However, one thing to remember about winners on returning seasons is the type of player that tends to win. In Survivor: All Stars, the unassuming Amber Brkich won the game among a sea of colorful characters with bigger reputations. Similarly, Parvati Shallow went on to win Survivor: Micronesia, before she had the reputation of being one of the best players to ever play the game.

Jeff Probst Explains How Kelly Wiglesworth Is Perfect For The New 'Survivor' Season

In Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, Pearl Islands winner Sandra Diaz-Twine picked up another victory. While she did have the status of being a previous winner, her gameplay style did not make her a big target, especially with so many big egos in the cast.

With this in mind, it seems likely that some of the biggest names in the group for Survivor: Cambodia will have a harder time winning. Players like Spencer Bledsoe from Cagayan and Joe Anglim from Worlds Apart have such huge reputations that it will be a wonder if they make it to the end of the game.

Players like Kass McQuillen from Cagayan and Abi-Maria Gomes from Philippines will likely run into trouble as well considering their bold personalities.

This leaves some of the quieter players. Contestants like Kelley Wentworth from San Juan del Sur, Monica Padilla from Samoa, Woo Hwang from Cagayan, Peih-Gee Law from China and Jeff Varner from Australia may benefit greatly from a cast of bigger egos and personalities.

Having said this, it is also possible that some players will be conscious that younger under-the-radar women tend to win these types of seasons, so the stronger personalities may truly survive.

Either way, it should be a fun season as all 20 players fight tooth and nail to win the title of Sole Survivor.

Survivor: Cambodia - Second Chance premieres in the fall on CBS.
