Grey's Anatomy ended its eleventh season on a wild note with fans still recovering from the death of the beloved Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey).

Shonda Rhimes Comments On McDreamy's Final Voicemail Scene From 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 11 Finale

A lot of questions have been lingering since a big character in the series has obviously been removed.

It appears as though Shonda Rhimes and others behind-the-scenes are looking to fill the void left by the loss of Dempsey's character by hiring another male actor to become a 2.0 of McDreamy in a sense.

'Grey's Anatomy' Star Ellen Pompeo Speaks Out About Patrick Dempsey's Departure From ABC Medical Drama Series

TVLine revealed over the weekend that the actor must fit the following description: be in his late 30s to late 40s aside from being deemed good-looking, believable as a surgeon and of course charismatic.

It definitely sounds like McDreamy's description.

The Grey's Anatomy team wants whomever this performer is to be a "name" actor.

Back in April, Rhimes released a statement noting, "The possibilities for what may come are endless," with the post-Derek era upon them.

"As Ellis Grey would say: the carousel never stops turning," Rhimes concluded.

It seems like Grey's Anatomy is looking for a new and improved McDreamy based on the details of the casting information. Does this mean this new male doctor will become Dr. Meredith Grey's (Ellen Pompeo) new love interest? Will he be welcomed at Grey Sloan Memorial especially if he winds up being so similar to Derek?

Who do you think should get cast in this role?

Grey's Anatomy will return to ABC for its 12th season.
