During her coverage of the election, news anchor Diane Sawyer was slurring her words and though it might have been a simple mistake, she is battling rumors on Wednesday that perhaps she was drunk during her broadcast.

While speaking with colleagues such as George Stephanopoulos and Barbara Walters, she stumbled on a few words, repeated herself and incorrectly pronounced President Obama's name. Reps for ABC, the network that Sawyer was reporting for, defending the reporter and said that she was just tired, perhaps alluding to the reason why she would prop herself on her hands against the desk a few times throughout the show.

A source told the Daily Mail the following: "Diane's been up for days and she's had many sleepless nights. She was covering the hurricane and then preparing for the election broadcast. If you knew Diane you'd realize she's one of the hardest working people on television. She likes to cram things in, she likes to have every fact at her finger tips...and I think that came at the expense of the broadcast,"

Many took to Twitter to comment on Sawyer's behavior and the rumors about her being drunk.

"Diane Sawyer's name is trending. Many people saying she seems drunk on air," tweeted The New York Times reporter Brian Stelter. "Alternative theory: she gets this way when she's really tired."

 "Diane Sawyer is either drunk or doing her classic Julia Childs as Katherine Hepburn impression," Andrew Miller, "The Secret Circle" executive producer, posted.
