Fear not, American Horror Story fans, Jessica Lange would not be opposed to returning for another season.

Jessica Lange Offers Her Thoughts On Lady Gaga Joining 'American Horror Story'

American Horror Story fans around the world were in mourning after the end of AHS: Freak Show, which was announced to be Lange's last season with the show. Lange has stated on numerous occasions that she is "done" with the horror anthology series after four successful seasons. But now there is hope that she may come back in the future.

Lange spoke with TheWrap in a new interview and teased that she would come back to American Horror Story for a small part if she were to be compelled by it.

Lady Gaga's Part In 'American Horror Story: Hotel' Will Be 'Bananas Good'

"If [AHS executive producer] Ryan [Murphy] came to me and said, 'Would you want to do a small character for a couple episodes?' I would absolutely say yes if I liked it," Lange revealed. "This was a great collaboration, so I would love to keep working with him."

It's doubtful that Lange will return as early as Hotel, which is the show's upcoming fifth season to premiere in October, but now at least there is hope of a return appearance in the future.

Lange will be collaborating with Murphy in a different way next year for a stage adaptation of Long Day's Journey Into Night, where she will play morphine-addicted matriarch Mary Tyrone.

Speaking on her four American Horror Story characters, Lange pointed out a common thread between them that kept her interested through four seasons.

"There was a thread through all four of those characters, which is a kind of desperation, a profound disappointment in life," Lange explained to TheWrap. "As on-edge or neurasthenic as they appear to be, they have a spine of steel," she said. "It's exactly the kind of complexity in a character that I love, that it appears to be one thing and it's something else."

Her performances in the horror anthology series got her a whole new generation of fans and two Emmys, a great feat for an actress in her fourth decade of acting.

American Horror Story: Hotel premieres in October on FX, though the network has not yet announced a specific premiere date.
