Messer reportedly began treatment on May 21 in Utah, and was said to be addressing issues of depression and stress. In the months prior, Messer had been struggling to save her marriage to Jeremy Calvert, who accused her of sleeping around in October of last year. Messer had also been dealing with the ongoing stress from her strained relationship with Simms, the father of her 5-year-old twins, Ali and Aleeah.

“She’s ready for her 30-day stint of therapy," a source explained to In Touch Weekly at the time Messer entered treatment. "She’s being treated for depression and stress. She’s always put other people’s needs ahead of her own, and her mental health suffered because of it.”

As for her relationship with Simms, the source revealed, "They’ve worked everything out and everyone agrees that it’s best for the girls to be with Leah and best for Leah to take the time to get well. She is finally ready to make a positive change in her life and get treatment.”
