The Pittsburgh Steelers (6-3) will look to take control of the AFC North when they take on the first place Baltimore Ravens (7-2) at Heinz Field on Sunday night. Currently in the midst of a four-game winning streak, the Steelers are now within one game of their Week 11 opponents.
However, the team must attempt to pull out a victory against the Ravens without the services of Ben Roethlisberger, which is something they've never accomplished.
With Big Ben on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury, second stringer Bryon Leftwich will get the start. The backup was brought in relief for the starter in last week's game. It was Leftwich's first regular season appearance in almost two years. He was 7 of 14 and threw for 73 yards.
"I try to prepare as if I am the starter every week. Nothing will change. I wish Ben the best. I hope he is healthy. Other than that I will be ready to go," Leftwich stated, according to ESPN.
Since Roethlisberger's 2004 rookie season, Pittsburgh has gone 0-4 against the Ravens without him. The star quarterback, who also dislocated his rib, spoke about the extent of his injuries.
"I can move (the arm) around, that's not the issue. Sometimes when I do move it the rib will kind of pop out of place again, which is pretty painful. I just try to keep it as still as I can for the most part."
Although it's being said that Roethlisberger could be out an estimated three weeks, the signal caller doesn't feel as though his ailments will end his season. However, he did say that the level of pain he's experiencing is "nine on a scale of 1-10."
