A tiny kitten was trapped inside the statue of Abraham Lincoln for three days before being rescued over the weekend. The three-week old kitten, which has not been nicknamed "Abe", was rescued by Firefighters Sunday afternoon at the Presidents Hall of Fame in Clermont, Fla.

It is not clear how the kitten got stuck in the statue to begin with, but luckily the authorities were able to get to it before it was too late. The fire department reportedly drilled a hole at the top of the statue in order for the firefighter to climb in and rescue it.

"I have no idea, somebody said that there's a hole up on top here," Daniel Davis of the Humane Society told WFMY news. "But I don't see how a little kitten, a three-week old kitten, could have gotten up there. It can't crawl up there," he continued.

The kitten was dehydrated and hungry upon its rescue and has been fed and nurtured. "Abe" is expected to be adopted by John Zweifel, the curator at the Presidents Hall of Fame.

The soft cries of the kitten were reportedly heard for a number of days before it was rescued.
