In a "Monday Night Football" game that will have two of the NFC's top teams, the Chicago Bears (7-2) will go upagainst the San Francisco 49ers (6-2).

Both the Bears and the 49ers will have to duel it out on the football field without the services of their starting quarterbacks.  Concussions will keep both Jay Cutler and Alex Smith out of action.

The Bears think that Cutler's head trauma came about by a helmet-to-helmet hit at the hands of Houston's Tim Dobbins late in the game of last week's 13-6 defeat.  Dobbins was fined $30,000 for the incident.

While San Francisco will be going with Colin Kaepernick to lead their attack, Chicago will turn to a former starter by the name of Jason Campbell.

Campbell completed 11 of 19 passes for 94 yards while filling in for Cutler last week.  This was his first sufficient amount of playing time since a road win over the Texans last year in Week 5.  During the past six seasons, the backup quaterback has 70 career touchdowns compared to 50 interceptions.

Chicago center Roberto Garza spoke to ESPN about Campbell's capabilities despite his role off the bench.

"He's comfortable in the pocket, comfortable calling the plays. Look at his track record.  That speaks for itself.  There's a reason why he's here, and there's a reason why he's in the situation he's in," he said.

"He probably should be starting somewhere.  He's that type of player.  Unfortunately, we're in this situation, but he's gonna step in there," Garza added.

Lifetime against the 49ers, Campbell sports a 51 percent completion rate in two games, which both were losing efforts in San Francisco while playing for Washington and Oakland.
