Fans have been learning more and more about the upcoming Fear The Walking Dead, and a new behind-the-scenes video has detailed just what the creators of the show are hoping to add to the universe that surrounds both that show and the initial companion series, The Walking Dead.

Madison Brushes Off Concerns Of The 'Illness'

In the video, several Executive Producers for the show spoke up about the new shoe--reiterating that it would be very different from the original series because it would be starting off at the very beginning of the outbreak--something fans didn't get to see on the original show, which picked up after the main character awoke from a coma.

"It is a family drama first and foremost which I think evolved into a genre piece, and it's also a chance to introduce the new world we're going to inhabit," Executive Producer Dave Erickson says in the video. "Every aspect and element of the apocalypse is filtered through our core family."

Tension Builds As Loved Ones Go Missing

Robert Kirkman, who created both the shows and wrote the original comic books also talked about his excitement to filter the show through the new perspective.

"Having society stripped from these people in real time is going to make this show more emotional so that's something that I'm really excited about," he says in the video.

However, the most important thing for the show's creators is that it still fits in with their franchise--but also had it's own separate identity.

"We want to give the show its own fingerprint and its own voice but keep it true to The Walking Dead world," Greg Nicotero said.

Fear the Walking Dead premieres this August.
