A broken ATM in had been dispensing free cash to residents in Britain. Once word got out about the malfunctioning ATM, hundreds of people flocked to the machine to try and get some free cash.

The cash machine in Scotland reportedly starting giving out double the amount that was requested, according to BBC. More people gathered after a picture was tweeted of the long queue that had started to form. The queue eventually stretched all the way down the block.

The incident happened at a Bank of Scotland ATM on Saturday at noon. Authorities soon stepped in and guarded the machine until it was shut down.

According to the Daily Mail, the bank issued a statement regarding the incident. "We can confirm that, for a very short period of time, the ATM in Burnside, Glasgow, was mis-dispensing cash. It will be difficult to trace all payments, as they won't all be our customers, so it's unlikely that we will take action. We [apologize] for any inconvenience caused."

The Bank of Scotland will eventually track the customers who received the extra cash because it would have the card details that they used for the transaction. The bank stated that it would soon be in contact with "any customers who have been affected" by the ATM.
