Clary (Katherine McNamara) will be in for a tumultuous ride when ABC Family brings its Cassandra Clare adaptation to television screens in 2016. The series' reboot will up the danger, plunging the budding nephilim into the intensely dark world of New York City's supernatural underground.

At the London Film and Comic Con last weekend, Clare confirmed that the upcoming 13-episode run will be 'a little edgier,' according to Metro, a sentiment that McNamara seconded on Monday.

"I love the balance of whimsy, danger, and romance in the @ShadowhuntersTV world!" the actress teased during Twitter's #ASKKat Q&A.

EnStars already reveled that the Shadowhunters cast is hard at work perfecting some intense fight scenes, and a new photo from Emeraude Toubia (Isabelle) teases the characters tempestuous love life as well (see photo below).

Shadowhunters will star McNamara, Toubia, Dominic Sherwood (Jace Wayland), Alberto Rosende (Simon), Matthew Daddario (Alec), Harry Shum Jr. (Magnus Bane), Jon Cor (Hodge), and Jade Haddouné (Meliorn).
