Magician and Performance Artist Wayne Houchin was set on fire on a TV show in the Dominican Republic, suffering burns to his head, face, neck and right hand.

Houchin appeared on a TV show in the Dominican Republic early this week, when the TV host took a handful of Aqua de Florida - a highly flammable liquid- , ignited it and intentionally dropped it on the magicians' head setting him on fire, a video posted online shows.

"I got nervous," the TV host is heard saying in the video immediately after the incident.

"It's okay. I need to go to a hospital," Houchin is heard saying as he lays down in the floor with his face apparently burnt. (Watch Video Below)

Houchin explained on his Twitter account that he had to be rushed to the emergency room.

"I am in pain, but am recovering. I will update you on the situation when I can," he said on Twitter Thursday, three days after the incident occurred.

" I will be extending my stay here in the Dominican Republic in order to undergo continuous treatment for my burns..." he tweeted. "The doctors are cautiously optimistic that I will fully recover with no scars," Houchin added.

Houchin said he was not aware the TV host was going to do that. "This was not a stunt or part of an act - this was a criminal attack," Houchin said via his Twitter account @WayneHouchin.

According to a longer statement posted on the Facebook page of "Curiosidades," a show by Houchin, the host and show's director Franklin Barazarte offered to give Houchin and his team "a blessing" when he took the Agua de Florida.

Despite the situation, Houchin seemed in good spirits.

The support & love sent my way through social media, blogs, forums, friends and fans has been both humbling & overwhelming. Thank you," he tweeted Friday.
