Chelsea vs Nordsjaelland takes place in the Champions League on Wednesday in Group E, with Chelsea on the verge of elimination, and only grasping at the slimmest chance of qualification today. The game will take place at Stamford Bridge in London and will kick off at 2.45 p.m. ET, and is available to watch online through free live stream by clicking here.

Chelsea have had a terrible Champions League campaign until now, and will be bitterly disappointed with where they are right now. With just seven points from their five games they are third in the group and in need or a near miracle to qualify.

Ahead of Chelsea are Juventus on nine points and Shakhtar on 10 points. This perilous position means Chelsea are on the verge of mounting the worst Champions League title defense in history – they will become the first defending champions to be knocked out at the group stages of the competition in the Champions League era.

Chelsea first of all must win today – anything else and they are out. Secondly they need Shakhtar to beat Juventus. Ordinarily that could have a reasonable chance of happening, but with Shakhtar already qualified for the knock out stages they are likely to field a weakened team.

Some pundits have suggested that Shakhtar will turn up with a strong team today as they will want to secure first place in the group – which would potentially give them an easier draw for the next round. However, those reports are refuted by others that believe Shakhtar and Juventus will almost certainly play out a draw, which would see both teams qualify and be happy with their result.

A draw in the Shakhtar vs Juventus game will mean Chelsea are eliminated no matter what the Blues do today.

However, all those permutations could be proven wrong if Juventus want to go all out to try and snatch the first place in the group themselves by beating Shakhtar. Which in essence means that Shakhtar will not be able to just sit back and enjoy the ride if they want to take top spot, but will also find themselves having to attack and potentially gain a win that could see Chelsea qualify.

Out of all the permutations possible most give Chelsea a minimal, if any, chance of qualifying at all. This game will kick off at 2.45 p.m. ET and can be watched online through free live stream by clicking here.
