New reports are reasserting the possibility of the previously rumored Transformers 5 crossover with G.I. Joe.

Transformers 5 To Bid Farewell To Optimus Prime?

Earlier this year there was heavy speculation surrounding the two toy franchises coming together as a megaforce on film, and Dwayne Johnson was also being thrown into the casting mix. This time around some reports have a gone a step further suggesting that Bruce Willis could also join. While there is no real basis for this speculation, the fact that the writing team for the Transformers series going forward is working on multpile sequels and prequels and is exploring all kinds of possibilities is encouraging. It seems like this time around the creative team is really pushing the envelope, and something like a G.I. Joe crossover could be entertained as a possiblity for one of the sequels if not Transformers 5.

In February reports were hinting at a plot that involved G.I. Joe joining the Maximals and Autobots as they wage war against the predacons. Cinema Blend revealed that this could be a possibility and tempted with the idea of Johnson  and Willis joining Optimus Prime and his crew.

Transformers 5 To Introduce The 'Beast Wars'?

The rumor had been previously taken up with the producer of movie, Lorenzo di Bonaventura. In an interview with Total Film, he said that there was potential in that concept. But Bonaventura went on to speak of how it was not a realistic proposition, at least not in the near future.

"I don't think [it's] in the near future at all," he explained. "It's not something we talk about either. There's a lot more story to be told in both cases. And I think if at some moment we think, 'You know what? It's time to bring the two of them together,'we'll do that. But I think they're strong enough to exist on their own."
