Toks Olagundoye recently revealed how her character Hayley reacts to those around her in the upcoming eighth season of ABC's Castle.

Rick & Kate's Relationship Will Have Some 'Added Drama' In 'Castle' Next Season

Hayley, a security specialist, joins the team on Castle next season and really makes a strong impression. While it had previously been reported that Hayley will spend a lot of time with Castle (Nathan Fillion) in season 8, she won't treat him any differently that anyone else.

Olagundoye spoke about Hayley's consistency and why she chose to take this new role in a new interview with TVLine.

What New Character Is A 'Fantastic Adrenaline Shot' To 'Castle' This Season?

"You know, Hayley's an interesting sort - her dynamic doesn't really change with anyone," the actress explained. "She's her own brand of sassy and sarcastic. She's witty, she doesn't put up with nonsense from anyone.... She doesn't speak unless she has something to say, and she's pretty much that way with everyone."

Hayley will be a bit of a mentor to Alexis (Molly Quinn) in the new season, who continues to transition into being an adult. According to Olagundoye, Hayley likes that "[Alexis is] so capable and smart but she has no ego. I think Hayley enjoys that, and she enjoys giving her something that she probably didn't have when she was younger, which is guidance from another strong female."

While Hayley will catch the eye of certain co-workers like Esposito (Jon Huertas), she was not brought on to be a love interest.

Olagundoye admitted, "I would have resented, after 21 years as an actor, to be brought on a show simply to be somebody's romantic interest. [Laughs] It's not a soap opera. So I like the fact that work is No. 1 on her plate; you shouldn't have time for anything else. I mean, she's flying between countries, for God's sake, to get her work done! [Laughs] I do like showing, 'Teah, there are women in this world who aren't just looking for guys.' It's kinda cool."

Castle season 8 premieres Monday, Sept. 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
