Could the third season of Reign be its last?

'Reign' Actor Reveals When Cast Started Filming Third Season

In Tuesday's report from TV By The Numbers, the royal drama is at a tossup for a possible renewal or cancellation by May 2016. Considering that the show has been moved to Friday nights and has 18 episodes instead of 22, this lowers its chances of getting a fourth season. But it's not necessarily a guarantee depending on how things go when the third year finishes.

The site mentioned that The 100 is also at a tossup between a cancellation and a renewal while The Originals stands a pretty high chance of getting a fourth year.

Queen Elizabeth Will Share Powerful Connection With Childhood Friend On 'Reign'

Meanwhile, the third season of Reign has some pretty intense storylines coming up, one of them involving the power of Queen Elizabeth. In a previous CW video, Rachel Skarsten (who plays Elizabeth) dished on what it is about the iconic woman she's looking forward to the most.

"I'm looking forward to sort of playing not only her strength, but also her insecurities," Skarsten said. "Elizabeth especially has arguably one of the most powerful nations in the world and viewed as somewhat illegitimate felt incredible insecurity about keeping her place."

The actress also mentioned how exciting it was to play this character since there had "definitely been an anticipation" for her. At this point, she's likely going to try to bring Mary down.

See what else Skarsten said in the video below.

Reign Season 3 premieres on Friday, October 9 on The CW.
