In a television interview, Madonna said she "felt reductive" about Lady Gaga's song "Born this Way" which was released last year and sparked controversy for its similarity to Madonna's song "Express Yourself."

Asked if she felt annoyed, Madonna responded:

"I felt reductive."

When the interviewer pressed to know if that was a good or bad thing, Madonna replied.

"Look it Up."

Reductive, according to the dictionary means "tending to present a subject or problem in a simplified form, especially one viewed as crude."

In the interview Madonna said that when she heard "Born this Way" for the first time, it sounded very familiar.

"When I heard it on the radio...I said that sounds very familiar," Madonna said.

"I certainly think she [Lady Gaga] references me a lot in her work. And sometimes I think it's amusing and flattering and well done," Madonna also said.
