Woman Dies On Plane: American Airlines Emergency Landing Made, 25-Year-Old Pronounced Dead
A 25-year-old woman was declared dead just a short while after her flight was grounded in Houston on Wednesday.
The tragedy occurred while the woman was on board American Airlines flight 962 from Sao Paolo, Brazil en route to Dallas-Fort Worth Airport in Texas.
The airline company spoke to ABC News and stated that the flight was diverted to George Bush Intercontinental Airport after the young woman became sick. However, the airline wouldn't elaborate on what exactly transpired with her.
The Houston Police Department stated that eight hours into the respective flight, "the woman went into medical distress." Along with a physician, who just so happened to be on board, flight crew employees began performing emergency medical procedures as the airline altered its destination to land in Houston. Just after the landing, the woman was pronounced dead.
There were no obvious indications of trauma or signs that foul play was involved. Her identity and cause of death have yet to be released, but the notification of her family and autopsy results are pending.
The Boeing 777 plane left Houston at 9:05 a.m. There were 220 passengers and 14 crew members on board.
In the month of September, a 64-year-old woman on a Korean Airlines flight heading to New York's JFK Airport from Seoul, South Korea had died.
A man passed away in June while making the high-altitude trip from Amsterdam to Tarzania. The man was reported to be sweating and experiencing seizures prior to the plane's take off. The flight crew was allegedly forced to lay his body across three seats and attempted to cover it.
"Of course, it was unpleasant, but I am not a person who makes a fuss," flight passenger Lena Pettersson stated, according to the news network.
Pettersson was given a partial reimbursement for the sad and disturbing ordeal, which was roughly half the cost of her plane ticket.
