The Vampire Diaries returns to The CW this week with a brand new season premiering!

How Snippy Will Damon Get With Bonnie In New 'Vampire Diaries' Season?

With the new season come new characters of the evil nature. These characters are Lily's (Annie Wersching) heretics. They're the bad guys this season that are hybrids made up of vampires and witches, which can be lethal.

Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) has been teeter tottering on a good versus evil stance on and off throughout the first six seasons since sometimes he loses his cool and does bad things, but he will appear totally innocent next to the heretics.

Somerhalder chatted with TV Fanatic about the new additions to Mystic Falls and where Damon stands with them.

"He's no longer the petulant child. He is just pissed," Somerhalder revealed about his character, adding exactly what Lily and her "family" are causing in town.

"She's really coming in and for lack of better words, she's f------ up a lot of things," the actor explained of Lily's actions with bringing the heretics to Mystic Falls.

"She took over the town!" Somerhalder dished, explaining how much of a horrible situation it is.

"This is not good. None of this is any good at all," he revealed, but it will provide his character with a distraction from thinking of Elena (Nina Dobrev).

The heretics and Damon's mom have taken over the Salvatore house so Damon and Stefan (Paul Wesley) are kind of homeless at the start of the season. Plus, they're killing a lot of people, which won't sit well with the older Salvatore sibling.

"He's going to retaliate," Somerhalder shared, admitting Damon is known for not always thinking things through before acting.

It sounds like Damon will have his hands full with trying to end the heretics.

The series returns to The CW for Season 7 on Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. ET.
